About Us

The Aim of the Initiative

The Transylvanian Composers’ Archive was established to provide an official institutional framework for the proper reception, housing, and processing of the exceptionally rich and diverse materials of generations of Transylvanian composers.

Our mission is the systematic collection, long-term preservation, academic research, digitization, and widespread promotion of the Transylvanian composer heritage. Our goal is to ensure that these invaluable musical materials are not lost, but instead become accessible to researchers, musicians, and the general public alike.

Founders

The archive was realized at the initiative of composer Boldizsár Csíky, through the collaboration of two institutions with a long-standing history: the Hungarian Opera of Cluj and the Transylvanian Heritage House Foundation.

  • Hungarian Opera of Cluj-Napoca: since its establishment, the institution has paid special attention to the material heritage of Transylvanian musical culture and provides the historical background on which our archive is built.

  • Transylvanian Heritage House Foundation: As a professional organization, it provides the background for the modern processing and mediatization of data, in close cooperation with professional organizations in Budapest.
